There will be another Heckler paper…

This is the front cover of the last paper we brought out all the way back in January 2020

It’s now been over a year since we brought out and distributed a printed copy of the Heckler. After an unprecedented year, the ‘before times’ when we could happily bring out a paper and deliver it door to door feels like a lifetime ago. Over the last year, not having a paper has limited our audience to a more or less self selecting one. Having said that, some of the stuff we have published online has gone pretty viral so it’s not all doom and gloom.

With the promise of some easing of restrictions as we move towards the spring and summer, bringing out and delivering a paper is more of a viable option. With an easing, there’s less chance of a cop car pulling up with us being asked what are we doing out on the streets with the ensuing row as we respond with ‘what does it fecking look like we’re doing?!’

A likely date for a printed Heckler will be after the local elections have been done and dusted in May. That’s to avoid being mistaken for canvassers with the abuse that could well come with that! Given the level of fuckwittery from both Thurrock and Basildon councils, the local election campaigns may well get a bit heated…

As ever, with our limited resources, the print run will not be hitting four figures so whatever we produce will be tightly targeted on one issue and one area. Obviously, we’ll make the paper available online as well. The only problem we’ll have is knowing where the heck to start with picking an issue and an area. As regular readers of this blog will understand, we really are spoilt for choice!

All we can say for the moment is watch this space for updates:)
