A short while ago, we published this post about the leader of Basildon Council, Cllr. Gavin Callaghan (Lab), taking a keen interest in securing the future of the Laindon Community Centre: Pressure pays…keep it up! As a reminder, this was the news item that reported on Callaghan’s interest: Council leader’s pledge to Laindon residents over future of centre: ‘If it costs a lot of money, we will spend a lot of money to get that centre back up and running in a proper, fit for purpose way’.
On top of this, news has come in the Brooke House will be getting a long awaited makeover: Brooke House, Basildon, to benefit from £6m improvement works. It’s all happening now isn’t it?! Somehow, we reckon it may have something to do with the local elections coming up in May. We also reckon it may have something to do with Callaghan’s reputation taking an absolute battering recently.
By any means necessary…pressure pays!
Promises have now been made about the future of both the Laindon Community Centre and Brooke House. It’s now down to the people of Basildon to hold their council to these promises and ensure there’s no backsliding…
