The sorry saga of the Thurrock Council supervised ‘re-development’ of the station continues. The main building which hosted the ticket office was demolished way back in February 2019. After a number of farcical false starts, tendering for a Network Rail approved contractor to produce detailed designs and costingsprior to construction work starting at some point in the summer of 2022. This is how this has been covered by Thurrock Nub News: Summer restart for Stanford rail station project says council.
It could well end up being five years since the demolition of the ticket office and other structures before the people of Stanford-le-Hope see a new station. Which will be nothing like the original replacement we were promised: £11 million spent so far and f**k all to show for it!
Anyway, we’ll leave you to ponder the graphic above, read the piece from Thurrock Nub News and the post we put up about the situation back in the summer. We’re sure you’ll be able to draw your own conclusions about this debacle. Meanwhile at some point pretty soon, we’ll be expressing our feelings in the customary manner: Keeping up the pressure.
