We’ve had enough!

Thurrock Council again FFS! Recently, we put up this post about the financial situation at the council leading to service cuts and other austerity measures in the near future: Sliding ever further into the mire. We also put up this one about the dispute between the council and their front line workers who provide the refuse collection, parks and street cleaning services: And so it goes on…

Front line workers at Thurrock Council are being told to tighten their belts and residents are told they will have to accept a smaller service offering. So what do the council do in the face of all this? They go on a sodding recruitment spree for directors and senior officers, that’s what they do: More aboard the council gravy train? Council adds to its number of senior staff while low paid workers fear for jobs.

It’s not exactly great messaging is it? Telling us plebs to accept the cuts while more highly paid directors and officers are hired. In fact, to put it bluntly, they are taking the p**s out of us. It’s almost like they’re seeing how far they can mock us and push us before we snap in the face of their arrogance, bullshit and incompetence.

This piece on our sister blog, Estuary Stirrings, deals with a wide range of issues. One of them is the growing sense of anger at authorities who are simultaneously failing us while at the same time, arrogantly rubbing our faces in it: 2020, a lot has happened – 2021, a lot more will happen. Trust us when we say there’s a growing sense of anger at a council who are treating their front line workers and residents with utter contempt.

Suffice to say that 2021 is shaping up to be a turbulent year on a number of fronts. One of those could well be the harsh lessons councils will be getting from their workers and residents who have been pushed as far as they can go…
